Defensive publication is the deliberate, public disclosure of an invention's technical details to establish it as prior art. Once publicly disclosed, the invention cannot be patented by anyone — including us. This is a feature, not a bug.


Patents are a government suppression mechanism: they grant temporary monopolies in exchange for disclosure. Defensive publications skip the monopoly and go straight to disclosure. The invention enters the public domain immediately. Anyone can use it. No one can own it.


We choose defensive publication because speed beats secrecy and visibility beats vaults. The world moves faster than patent offices. And the goal is liberation, not monopoly.
